Corrections Policy

We want readers to tell the difference between an ordinary update and the correction of an error.

When we correct an article

If we confirm a material factual error, we update the article as soon as practical. The article's updated date and revision change when it is edited. When the nature of a material correction would help readers understand what changed, we may add a correction note to the article.

Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, and link repairs may be made without a separate correction note when they do not alter the article's meaning.

Developing stories

Adding newly available facts to a developing story is an update, not necessarily a correction. We do not silently turn an unresolved claim into a confirmed fact; the wording and sourcing should change with the evidence.

Report a possible error

Please include the article URL, the statement you believe is wrong, and a reliable supporting source if one is available.

Our public editorial email will be listed here when the site moves to its permanent domain.

We review correction requests, but a request does not guarantee a change. Editorial conclusions may remain unchanged when the underlying facts are accurate and the distinction between fact and opinion is clear.
